What is a full moon parasite cleanse?
A cleanse of this nature involves using the momentum and power of a full moon to detox parasites from your body. The idea is that the gravitational pull of the full moon affects various aspects of life, including the increased activity of parasites within the body. They say the full moon is the best time to detox because parasites are more active and therefore more vulnerable during this time.
Fans of the full moon parasite cleanse believe that removing these little critters en masse with the moon assists with overall health. This is because parasites are known to disrupt our digestive systems month on month, by stealing nutrients and in the process, weakening our immune systems. Parasites have also been linked to fatigue, skin problems and more.
During a full moon parasite cleanse, specific protocols – like dietary changes, herbal supplements, fasting and enemas – can be used to eliminate these from the body.
Simonè’s take
“Over the past 25 years, in our clinics, me and my team have witnessed many patients’ lives radically changed by resetting their gut and transforming their microbiome,” says Dr Laubscher. “It can bring about physical healing, particularly of the digestive and integumentary systems (hair, skin and nails) as well as emotional and mental wellbeing.”
“By incorporating the lunar cycle, you can achieve the most thorough cleansing of parasites, candida, fungus and bacteria overgrowth." This is because, Dr Laubscher adds, over a full moon, serotonin levels go up and melatonin levels go down, supporting parasite reproduction.
Parasites, fungus and candida are all part of the normal human microbiome. Still, they are only an issue when they overgrow and start to undermine your health. Many of us are eating more organic (which is excellent), but fruits and vegetables are often not appropriately washed, so we eat the microscopic eggs which can hatch inside our gut as parasites.
Do I need one?
Dr Laubscher lists the following as signs you may have parasite overgrowth:
Low energy or IBS symptoms.
Finding it hard to lose weight.
Fungal infections.
White coating on your tongue.
Skin conditions, breakouts and acne.
Depression or anxiety.
How to do a parasite cleanse
The best way to do a thorough parasite cleanse is to choose three to four weeks of your life to move through a full moon cycle to detox.
“To complete a parasite cleanse, you need to kill off all three generations of adults, infants and eggs,” Dr Laubscher says. “This means you choose to do a detox/cleanse over three to four weeks and you load on your herbs for a week before the full moon and then two to three weeks after the full moon.”
For example, when the full moon is on the 16th, start loading your herbs from the 8th and continue for the rest of the month. This way, you can choose a month that works for you. Check out the moon’s schedule hereto plan your cleanse. There are countless ‘made for you’ kits out there and some one-and-done products, most of which utilise power-herbs like garlic, ginger, cloves, black walnut, wormwood, pumpkin seeds, tumeric and oregano oil. Dr Laubscher has one herself, here.
Why?
Dr Laubscher strongly believes regular parasite cleanses are vital if you want to have excellent health and live from a place of disease prevention and anti-ageing.
“There is a labyrinth of around 100 million neurons edging our gut that is so vast that some scientists have nicknamed it our second brain,’” Dr Laubscher says. “This abundance of neurons is called the enteric nervous system and has more neurons than our peripheral nervous system and produces more serotonin (our happy hormone) than our actual brain. The gut-brain connection is key in sustaining good health and limiting disease.”
Like always, it is about balance. When your microbiome has the right balance of good to harmful bacteria, the immune system has the tools to fight infection and keep us well so it’s not about being perfect but simply about maintaining this balance.
Dr Laubscher leaves us with the following wisdom:
“You wouldn’t drive your car for 30+ years and not take it in for a service once or twice a year. The same with your gut. It is working each day and needs a regular cleanse and reset to keep your engine performing well so you can live your best life.” Whose in?
